How do I know the abatement crew is properly certified?
Ask for the contractor's current CDPHE asbestos abatement certification and the certifications of the workers and supervisor on your job. Don't proceed without seeing them.
Should the same company inspect and abate?
Many owners use an independent certified inspector to sample materials and evaluate clearance, so findings aren't influenced by who gets the abatement work.
Will my water-damage cleanup stop while we wait for test results?
Emergency extraction and stabilization can often continue while suspect materials are sampled. Demolition of those materials waits for results.
Where does the asbestos waste go?
Bagged wet, labeled, and hauled to a disposal site licensed for asbestos. You should receive the waste paperwork.
Are there permits?
Depending on the building and quantities, Colorado may require notification or permits. Ask what applies to your project.
